The wine of South Africa is quite famous around the world as well as the amazing and the beautiful vineyards in the country. There are quite a number of liquor stores in the country plus you will find a bar almost everywhere because the people of SA just love to drink.

If you are planning on opening a bar or a liquor store in your area then you have come up with a great business plan. The main issue with opening the bar is getting the liquor license South Africa which can be quiet hard in the country due to the certain restitutions and the long procedures.

So today we are going to talk about the procedure through which you can get your liquor store running. Instead of roaming here and there and wasting your time with the people who don’t really know anything and would leave you stray, follow these simple steps and you would be all set to go.

  1.     SAPS Clearance.

Before starting your business you need to get a certificate from the SAPs stating that you do not have any past criminal record. The process can take up to six weeks so apply before doing anything else so by the time your store is ready you can have your certificate as well

  1.     Premises

The second step is that you need to have a commercial place. You can start your liquor business at home so need to find the perfect place for you bar or store which is easily reachable by the customers. The key things to remember here is that the store should have an area of more than 50 meters square and it should be almost 500 meters away from the church, schools and other business.

So once you find a place visit the local Municipality department and ask them if the place would be okay for a liquor store or not. Then they will provide you with a list of things that you must get so start working on them.

  1. SARS clearance

The next step is to apply for the Tax clearance certificate from SARs. There are now two conditions, if you are going to open a liquor store under the name of your company then the certificate will be issued in the same of the company where as if you are opening a liquor store on your own then it would be issued under your name.

  1. Liquor License

The step is to get yourself a liquor license and you will be all set to go. Contact a reputable liquor license consultant for the license and he will guide you through the process.
